What is Google Ads?
Google Ads (Google Adwords) – Traditional advertising formats with a wide reach are being replaced by targeted advertising, one of the most popular and convenient management services.
In 1999, Larry Page and Sergey Brin were thinking about how to monetize their project – Google’s most advanced search engine. Its creators did not want to place a banner next to the search results, as everyone did at that time. So as not to use the quality of the search engine’s use by users. And then the idea proposed to show text ads next to search results thematically related to the user’s search query. This solution turned out to – so perfect that contextual advertising has become one of the most popular tools for Internet advertising and is successfully used to this day.
2018, Google Adwords – renamed to Google Ads. This site is based, on the one hand, on big user data collected by the company over the years. Billions of users with unique demographics and interests categorized and categorized into multiple groups based on statistically significant criteria.
What is Google Ads used for?
More than 2.5 million users use Google search every second. And most of them see Google ads on their search results pages. Google advertising or paid Google Ads can be a very effective way to drive targeted traffic to your site, especially when users are looking for specific products or services. Google Ads advertising also increases brand awareness and sales of the goods or services offered.
There are two big structures: Search and Display Network. They serve as a medium where each user receives relevant information from advertisers about their products and services based on their preferences and interests.
Search Network – Ads on this network shown to users next to search results in response to their search queries. In simple words, that the user asked Google, then he shows him in response.
Display Network – AdWords ads that displayed on Google partner sites (who have placed the Google ad code on their site pages).
Differences between advertising in Search and Display Network:
- Only text ads can shown on the Search Network. And text ads, banners, and video ads can shown on the Display Network.
- You can pay for both impressions and clicks on the KMS, but on the search network – only for clicks.
- User behavior on the Search Network and the Display Network is fundamentally different. Therefore, the very principle of advertising, advertising message, advertising indicators (CTR, cost per click, etc.) will be different.
